Coach Green provides an insight into all aspects of competing for Wyoming Seminary. The pair also discuss the popular TIF of 2017 Report and recent college commitments. Wrapping up they take a look at some big names moving schools and Pennsylvania stars finding success on the NCAA level.

Pennsylvania wrestling star Brett Harner (Norristown, PA/Princeton) will head to Cleveland, OH this weekend to compete in the 2016 NWCA All-Star Classic. The 2016 NCAA All-American will take on fellow All-American Brett Pfarr (Minnesota) in the Main Event at 197 lbs. Harner finished in eighth place at Madison Square Garden while Pfarr was third. The two have never met in their college careers.

Harner, a 4x PIAA State Medalist from Norristown Area, joined Jeff Upson and Eric Knopsnyder to discuss the event and explain what it is like to be an elite athlete in an Ivy League school. Harner is the lone Pennsylvania participant in the Main Event but two Keystone State grapplers are slated to compete in the Undercard Event. Brock Zacherl (Brookville Area/Clarion) and Ronnie Perry (Solanco/Lock Haven) are both scheduled to compete in separate matches at 141 lbs. Zacherl will take on 3x ACC Champion George Dicamillo (Virginia) while Ronnie Perry will face Evan Cheek of Cleveland State.

The pair also talk about some of the notable intrasquad dual meets that featured Pennsylvania wrestlers. Listen in!

2016 PIAA State Champion Jake Woodley (North Allegheny) gave a college commitment on the PA Power Podcast. The #7 recruit in all of Class of 2017 wrestlers Woodley burst onto the National scene in 2016 when he made the most of his first trip to the PIAA State Championship.

The 2016 Super 32 is upon us and Pennsylvania Wrestling will be well represented yet again. Many of the top Keystone State grapplers will make the journey south to Greensboro, NC where they hope to find success in the foremost pre-season event in the Nation.

Jeff Upson and Eric Knopsnyder preview the event going through each weight class to highlight some of Pennsylvania’s top participants. In total over 220 Pennsylvania wrestlers are registered to compete in the Super 32, many of which are trying to prove their worth on the National level.

Of the Pennsylvania wrestlers there are a total of 10 who in 2015 came away from Greensboro with a top eight finish. A grand total of fifty-one (51) 2016 PIAA State Medalists are competing with five wrestlers owning a 2016 PIAA State Championship. Last season Pennsylvania came away with 31 total Super 32 Medalists which included four (4) Tournament Champions.

For the fourth year in a row Flo's premier event, Who's #1, will take place at Lehigh University in the legendary Snakepit. It will feature a dual meet format where the top high school wrestlers in the Nation collide and many have an opportunity to claim or defend a #1 National ranking.

Also for the fourth straight season Young Guns WC head coach Jody Strittmatter will be heading one of the teams. In 2016 he will be coach of Team Green which features six Pennsylvania wrestlers, three of which train at Young Guns.

Some of the biggest names in Pennsylvania are on the move – and on the PA Power Podcast.

Keith Gavin, who was a PIAA placewinner at Lackawanna Trail and a National Champion at Pitt, has accepted a position as an assistant coach at Oklahoma. He joins Jeff Upson and Eric Knopsnyder to talk about his decision to join new Sooners' new head coach Lou Rosselli.

Gavin also weighs in on what makes Pennsylvania wrestling so special, freestyle vs. folkstyle and how close of an eye he keeps on his college alma mater.

A host of other Pennsylvania wrestlers will be in new places this fall, including K.J. Fenstermacher. The two-time PIAA placewinner joins the podcast to discuss his family's move from the Liberty school district to Northampton. He opens up about which colleges are recruiting him as well as how he thinks the Konkrete Kids will stack up in District 11 this season.

At the age of 17 and, still with a year left to go in high school, Pennsylvania Wrestling star Spencer Lee isn't shy about his career goals. The 3x undefeated PIAA State Champion for Franklin Regional aspires to become an Olympic Champion.

Lee already owns two UWW World Championships, one in Cadet and one in Junior, and next month will look for his second straight Junior World Championship at 50 kg.

How is Lee preparing for that feat?

By travelling with Team USA's 2016 Olympic Wrestling Team to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Spencer has formed a relationship with former Iowa Hawkeye and 2016 Olympian Daniel Dennis who will be representing Team USA at 57 kg in Freestyle. Spencer, who earlier this summer gave a verbal commitment to the Iowa Hawkeyes, was asked by Dennis to be his training partner for the Olympics. His responsibilities include drilling with and warming up the Olympian for his competition on Friday August 19th.

PA Power Wrestling's Jeff Upson sat down with Iowa Hawkeye Assistant Coach Terry Brands to discuss a Pennsylvania Pipeline to Iowa and Daniel Dennis. He also caught up with Spencer Lee prior to his departure for Rio.

The pair sits down with some studs including Gavin Teasdale, Max Murin, and Jake Woodley.

Ever since Bishop McCort High School in Johnstown, PA ended their co-op with Westmont Hilltop a year ago the thought of a new wrestling program was intriguing. In 2016-2017 McCort will have their first ever wrestling program but unlike many first year programs the Crushers will be highlighted by some of the State's top talent. They will return two PIAA State Runner-ups in juniors Anthony Walters and Josiah Jones in addition to PIAA State Qualifiers Carnell Andrews and Ethan Kelly.
