2016 PIAA State Champion Jake Woodley (North Allegheny) gave a college commitment on the PA Power Podcast. The #7 recruit in all of Class of 2017 wrestlers Woodley burst onto the National scene in 2016 when he made the most of his first trip to the PIAA State Championship.
The 2016 Super 32 is upon us and Pennsylvania Wrestling will be well represented yet again. Many of the top Keystone State grapplers will make the journey south to Greensboro, NC where they hope to find success in the foremost pre-season event in the Nation.
Jeff Upson and Eric Knopsnyder preview the event going through each weight class to highlight some of Pennsylvania’s top participants. In total over 220 Pennsylvania wrestlers are registered to compete in the Super 32, many of which are trying to prove their worth on the National level.
Of the Pennsylvania wrestlers there are a total of 10 who in 2015 came away from Greensboro with a top eight finish. A grand total of fifty-one (51) 2016 PIAA State Medalists are competing with five wrestlers owning a 2016 PIAA State Championship. Last season Pennsylvania came away with 31 total Super 32 Medalists which included four (4) Tournament Champions.
